Travel Tip: Stay in La Spezia Instead!

  • More Affordable – Hotels and Airbnbs in La Spezia are much cheaper than those in Cinque Terre.

  • Easier Access – It’s a larger town with better train connections, making day trips to all five villages super easy.

  • More Dining & Shopping Options – Larger selection of restaurants, bars, and shops compared to the small Cinque Terre villages and we had the best Aperitivo in La Spezia.

  • Avoid Crowds – While Cinque Terre gets packed, La Spezia offers a more relaxed atmosphere in the evenings.

  • Luggage-Friendly – No steep hills or limited access roads like in Cinque Terre villages, making it easier if you have suitcases.

Train to Cinque Terre

La Spezia Centrale is the main gateway to Cinque Terre. The train ride to the villages is super quick:

  • Riomaggiore – 7 min

  • Manarola – 10 min

  • Corniglia – 15 min

  • Vernazza – 18 min

  • Monterosso – 22 min

Trains run frequently (every 15-30 min) and cost around €5 per ride or you can get the Cinque Terre Train Card for unlimited travel.

Pro Tip: If you stay in La Spezia, grab an early train to beat the crowds and return in the evening for a more peaceful stay!
